Swamp Head is looking for a QA/QC Intern to keep a close eye on the yeasties and everything else that makes our beer the consistent product we strive for. This is a part-time, hourly position. If you think you’re the lab coat donning person we’re looking for, read on.
The QA/QC Intern is responsible for performing many of the technician’s tasks that keep the lab running smoothly. The Intern will generally be given a few specific jobs in addition to upkeep/cleaning tasks. Hours will vary from 3-4 hours per day for roughly 15~20 hours a week. Afternoon/evening availability is desired.
Daily duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Collecting samples for testing and plating
- Analyzing yeast samples via Cellometer and microscope
- Preparing agar plates
- Plating collected samples
- Analyzing wort/beer samples for SRM/IBUs/VDK, etc.Setting up and participating in sensory panels
- Updating logs and sheets
- Restocking pipette tips
- Instrument/machine maintenance
- General lab tidying
- Miscellaneous lab tasks
