Fresh Hop IPA
Recently, some fresh picked, skunky, funky smelling green hops showed up at the brewery. It was harvest time.
Each year, right around the time that the weather starts to cool, fresh sticky hops are picked directly off of the vine and sent to us overnight so we can use them in a “Fresh Hop” or “Harvest” ale. This is done quickly so we can use these little green guys before they lose a single bit of their intensely dank aromas and flavors.
Our Fresh Hop IPA, Gainesville Green, is an aggressive use of a mini mountain of fresh Cascade, Amarillo and Simcoe hops, brewed for the hop head who just has to sample the best of the yearly harvest.
2015 Hop Information:
This year was exceptionally tough for us to get our hands on the fresh harvest. In turn, we were only able to brew one strain, but she’s a beaut. 2015 Gainesville Green was brewed with Cascade, Chinook and Nugget hops.
