Engineering Intern (Jack of All Trades)
Swamp Head Brewery is searching for a curious, hands-on, and technically skilled individual to join our Maintenance and Engineering team. This is a part-time internship with flexible hours. Occasional weekend opportunities may be available for those interested but are not required. The role will report directly to the Maintenance Manager and involve working closely with them on hands-on technical projects. This position is ideal for a self-taught tinkerer or an undergraduate engineering student with a passion for building and problem solving. Please email [email protected] with any inquiries.
Duties:
Assisting with the design, prototyping, and building of custom projects for brewery operations and events
Creating and troubleshooting circuits, wiring, and sensor-based systems (ESP32, Raspberry Pi, Arduino)
Assisting with PLC programming and integration (Allen-Bradley, Omron)
Writing and testing code for small projects (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
Supporting brewery maintenance and helping improve processes with creative technical solutions
Collaborating with the events and marketing teams to bring custom builds to life for festivals and on-site activations
Participating in general fabrication, repairs, and technical problem solving
Working with and learning to operate equipment and systems such as:
LEDs and custom lighting setups
DMX lighting and sound control projects
MIG and TIG welding setups (training provided for those interested in learning to weld)
Three FDM 3D printers with 350mm–500mm build areas
UV laser engraver/cutter
8×4 vacuum CNC router equipped with a 20W diode laser head
Resin printers and other prototyping tools
Experience/Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Passion for hands-on building, prototyping, and experimenting with new technologies
Familiarity with one or more of the following: LEDs, lasers, CNC, 3D printing, resin printing, DMX lighting/sound, circuit design, microcontrollers, PLCs, or coding
Self-motivated and comfortable learning new tools or software on the fly
Basic knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems (formal education not required but a plus)
Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment safely
Willingness to assist with brewery events and projects outside typical office work (optional)
Interest in craft beer and brewery operations is a bonus
